Yes. Squad Fill off. You are still in a PvPvE match with up to 20 squads.
From my notes. The official DMZ page says you can deploy solo or with a squad. Game8 adds that solo players queue into other solo players. I have not timed that queue myself, so I am not promising it is faster or slower.
How to queue
On the deploy screen, disable Squad Fill. You still extract or lose your bag. Assimilation can pull you into a group of up to 4 if you accept it. Twenty squads remain the match size.
Low-risk orders, a UAV or Scout information trait, and leaving before a hunt closes on you are the practical notes from the solo write-up. Trait picks are on best traits.
What is not confirmed
A separate solo-only server, or a penalty to rewards, was not in Activision's post. Do not treat those as rules.

Can you play DMZ alone?
Yes.
Do solo players fight squads?
You are in the same PvPvE map. Game8 says the queue pairs solos with solos. I have not confirmed the matcher independently.
Is it PvE only?
No. Other players are in the match.
