Player count
108,500 is a reported Steam peak from campaign early access. It is not a live number, and it is not a Twitch number.
From my notes. I read the HobbyConsolas piece and the SteamDB note in our research log. SteamDB's 142,356 and 274,909 figures on app 4435490's chart page were identified as Twitch peaks. Mixing them with players is how a fake 'record' starts.
Numbers that exist
HobbyConsolas: Steam peak 108,500 during campaign early access, above Black Ops 7's recorded peak in that article. Steam reviews on launch day: 90 percent of 2,920. SteamDB also showed 6,938 reviews at 88.7 percent in the research note. Those samples were taken at different hours.
There is no official live player counter on callofduty.com. I will not scrape a third-party gauge and call it exact.
